Entrees are great, but dessert leaves a lasting impression, and we’ve been impressed by many of the desserts that we’ve tried in Reading and Berks County. Here’s a look back at all of the desserts – ice cream sundaes, cakes, pies and more – that we’ve reviewed:
Road Trip: The Jigger Shop
While driving through neighboring Lebanon County, we decided to take a detour to one of its most well-known ice cream parlors, the Jigger Shop in Mt. Gretna.
Review: Sweet Ride Ice Cream
Sweet Ride Ice Cream is known for taking cool treats on the road. This year, they opened up a permanent location in West Reading and everything so far is "sweet."
Review: Lori’s Candy Station
Lori's Candy Station will always be special to me. I grew up on chocolates and ice cream, all homemade, just like mom is still making.
Review: Infinito’s 5th Street Highway
A good buffet offers variety and convenience, that's two of the draws for Infinito's, where you can enjoy unlimited pizza, pasta and salad.
Review: Dans at Green Hills
Dans at Green Hills is one of only a handful of Berks County establishments that can truly be called fine dining. We visited for a memorable three-course meal that reaffirmed their status as one of the area's best restaurants.
Review: Jumbo China Buffet – RENAMED
Everyone has their guilty pleasures. For me, it's skipping the fancy restaurant and heading to the Jumbo China Buffet to indulge in a smorgasbord of favorites.
Review: The Knight’s Pub at Stokesay Castle
Two months after visiting Stokesay Castle for a mixer event, I returned for my first real meal at the Knight's Pub, and it was everything I had hoped it would be.
Review: Cafe Sweet Street
Sweet Street is known around the world for their desserts, but many locals don't know about Cafe Sweet Street, where you can find more savory dishes (and some great desserts, of course).
Review: Plein Air at Judy’s on Cherry
Late summer is one of the best times to enjoy dinner outside. Plein Air in Reading has created a whole restaurant around the outdoor dining experience and a menu of fresh summer favorites.
Review: Boehringer’s Drive-In
For more than 70 years, Boehringer's in Adamstown has been packing people in to order burgers, fries, hamburger bbq and of course, their famous homemade ice cream.
Review: Anthony’s Trattoria
A century ago, people flocked to Carsonia Park. Today, the old beer garden houses Anthony's Trattoria, and instead of amusement park rides, people are flocking to the area for great Italian food.
Hay Creek Snack Shack – CLOSED
The Hay Creek Snack Shack is little more than a shack on 1st St in Birdsboro, but for such a small place, it packs a big menu with plenty of great choices.
