Fastnachts are a Berks County tradition, enjoyed each year on Fat Tuesday – known locally as Fastnacht Day (or Fasnacht Day). The delicious potato doughnuts are available at bakeries across the county, and many local organizations will once again be hosting fastnacht fundraisers. Below is a running list of places to get fastnachts in 2025:
Anita’s Biscotti

Anita’s is taking preorders for homemade fastnachts – $1.50 each or six for $8.00. Pickups will be on Tuesday the 4th.

Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles
Boyertown
Last year, bad weather forced a cancellation of Fastnacht Day at the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles, but the event will return on Tuesday, March 4. With museum admission, guests can sit inside the museum’s restored Fegley’s Reading Diner and enjoy a fastnacht for 25 cents and coffee for 5 cents. The event begins when the museum opens at 10 a.m.
Dice’s Creative Cakes
Boyertown
Dice’s Creative Cakes will be frying fastnachts starting in February. The bakery uses a from-scratch recipe with real potatoes, baked and mashed.
Dietrich’s Meats & Country Store
Lenhartsville
Each year, Dietrich’s Meats add fastnachts to its expansive array of Pennsylvania Dutch offerings. Last year, they were available during the week leading up to Fat Tuesday.
Echo Hill Country Market
Fleetwood
Each year, Echo Hill Country Market offers homemade fastnachts in the leadup to Fat Tuesday. Fastnachts are baked fresh.
Goose Lane Egg Farm
Sinking Spring
Goose Lane Egg Farm has half-dozen bags of fastnachts available in both plain, powdered, and glazed.
Hershey Harvest
Laureldale
Each year, Hershey Harvest brings back homemade fastnachts which they advertise are made with real mashed potatoes. Fastnachts are usually available beginning in January.
Historic Joanna Furnace
Plowville
The Hay Creek Valley Historical Association is once again hosting a fastnacht fundraiser. Pickup is March 4 from 12 noon to 5 p.m. at historic Joanna Furnace. Preorder on HayCreek.org. Cost is $10 per dozen and $6 per half-dozen.
Mt. Penn Fire Company
Mt. Penn
One of the longest running fastnacht sales in the county, the Mt. Penn Fire Company will be making fastnachts for the 57th consecutive year. Preorders will be available with pickup on March 1 and 2.
Peppermint Stick
Boyertown
From Friday, February 28 through Fat Tuesday, March 4, the Peppermint Stick in Boyertown is offering a sweet take on fastnachts: the fastnacht sundae. The dish starts with fresh fastnachts from Dice’s Creative Cakes. Then they are topped with caramel, ice cream, custard, and chocolate chips for $7.50.
Redner’s Markets
Multiple Locations
Across Berks County and beyond, Redner’s Markets offers fastnachts baked in their bakeries. Fastnachts are available now and will be on the shelves through Fastnacht Day.
Riegel’s Produce
Kempton
Sitting on the border of Berks and Lehigh Counties, Riegel’s Produce is taking pre-orders for their homemade fastnachts. The cost is $12 per dozen or $6.50 per half-dozen.
Shady Mountain Market
Fleetwood
Shady Mountain Market lists fastnachts on theier website with availability in January and February.
Sunnyside Pastries
Fairgrounds Farmers Market
Lancaster-based Sunnyside Pastries offers fastnachts in the leadup to Lent. Check out their location at the Fairgrounds Farmers Market to pick them up close to home.

Sweet Ride Ice Cream
West Reading
Fastnachts are extra sweet at Sweet Ride. On Tuesday, March 4, Sweet Ride in West Reading will be offering fastnacht ice cream sandwiches, made on a panini press. Pre-orders will be available.

Way-Har Farms
Bernville
The bakery at Way-Har Farms in Bernville is stocked with fastnachts as of mid-January. The creamery was even offering fastnacht ice cream sandwiches on National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day on February 1.

Kirbyville Farm Market ships. That’s the only one I know for sure offers it. Check their Facebook page – they listed all their shipping prices on there this year.
