Fastnachts are a Berks County tradition, enjoyed each year on Fat Tuesday – known locally at Fastnacht Day. Fastnachts are a traditional Pennsylvania German potato donut, and these specialty pastries have already started arriving at bakeries across the county, and many bakeries, local organizations, and restaurants will have them in time for Fastnacht Day on Tuesday, February 17. Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles Boyertown
Join in the Fastnacht Day celebration at the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles. Sit down inside the former Reading Diner, now on permanent display inside the museum, and enjoy fastnachts for 25 cents and cups of coffee for 5 cents. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17 with fastnachts provided from Frecon Farms. Regular museum admission applies.
Frecon Farms Boyertown
In addition to providing fastnachts for the Boyertown Museum’s Fastnacht Day celebration, Frecon Farms will also be taking preorders for pickup in their Boyertown market.
Kirbyville Farm Market Kirbyville
Fastnachts are available at the Kirbyville Farm Market (Route 222 south of Kutztown) starting January 4. Fastnachts are available powdered or plain.
Lally’s Cakes & Sweets Shillington
Lally’s Cakes & Sweets, which now has a location in the Shilington Farmers Market, has their fastnachts available in seven varieties: original, powdered, glazed, cinnamon-sugar, vanilla, maple, and peanut butter. Shillington Farmers Market is open Thursdays through Saturdays.
Motta’s Country Gardens Birdsboro
Motta’s Country Gardens is hosting a fastnacht fundraiser to benefit Patriot Days overnight campouts at Daniel Boone Homestead. The cost is $10 per baker’s dozen, $5 per dozen. Pickup is at Motta’s from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on February 15. Pre-order through their Google Form.
Riegel’s Produce Kempton
Riegel’s Produce in Kempton is taking orders for homemade fastnachts. Preorders are available by phone, text, or through Facebook. The cost is $12 per dozen or $6.50 for a half-dozen. Pickup is on February 14 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Every year, the Temple Family Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Thanksgiving. This year’s Thanksgiving specials include ham and turkey over filling, chicken cordon bleu and the Temple special (shrimp, scallops, and haddock with crab cake).
Zaytoon Kabob & Grill Wyomissing
Zaytoon Kabob & Grill will be open on Thanksgiving Day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The restaurant will be serving their full halal menu, including lamb, chicken, and falafel.
Kempton Hotel Kempton
The Kempton Hotel is open with seating from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving. Reservations are required for this family style, Pennsylvania Dutch meal that features chicken pot pie, turkey, and ham. The price is $24.95 for adults and $14.95 for children age 12 and under.
Michael’s Restaurant Douglassville
Michael’s Restaurant will be open on Thanksgiving with dinner options that include turkey over filling and a family style turkey over filling, both served with sides and the soup and salad bar.
Morgantown Diner Morgantown
The new Morgantown Diner, which just opened in September, will be open on Thanksgiving Day with a range of special entrees that include turkey ($17.99), ham steak ($18.99), crab cake ($21.99), and New York strip with fried shrimp ($22.99). All specials are served with soup or salad, mashed potatoes, and corn.
Sunset Restaurant Birdsboro
Sunset Restaurant will open at 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving day and will be open for lunch and dinner though the actual closing time has not been announced (the restaurant suggests calling to make sure they are still open). Holiday lunch and dinner meals include roast turkey or roast pork over filling, chicken Devon and New York strip steak with crabcakes.
Whoo’s Cooking Robesonia
Whoo’s Cooking is open on Thanksgiving Day, but only for those that pre-order a meal by November 25. Meal options include turkey or roast beef with either mashed potatoes, filling, or noodles plus two vegetables and dessert for $15.00. Takeout meals are available for pickup on November 26 or Thanksgiving Day, November 27.
Thanksgiving Meal Pre-Orders
While these restaurants may not be open on Thanksgiving, you can still enjoy their cooking. Here’s a list of Berks County restaurants offering preorder meals for Thanksgiving.
The Backwoods Brothers are getting out the smoker to prepare your Thanksgiving feast. Turkey breast is available for $18 per pound. Pork ($18 per pound) and brisket ($26 per pound) are also available along with half and full pans of mashed potatoes, corn bread dressing, mac and cheese, and collard greens.
Clean Plates Reading
For a vegan alternative on Thanksgiving, check out Clean Plates. Options include jackfruit ribz and herb tur’ky with gravy. The restaurant is also offering sides, desserts, and refreshers. Preorders are due by November 20.
Deitsch Eck Lenhartsville
While you can’t get your turkey from the Deitsch Eck, you can get everything else. The Lenhartsville restaurant is offering potato filling, hot bacon dressing, coleslaw, pepper cabbage, pickled beets, and more. Pre-ordering is open until items sell out. Pickup is Wednesday, November 26.
Doc & Bubba’s Mohnton
Though the restaurant is closed on Thanksgiving, you can still get your thanksgiving meal from Doc & Bubba’s. The restaurant has catering options for full trays (serves 20-25) and half trays (serves 8-12) of mains and sides, including pot roast, honey-glazed ham, mac and cheese, and stuffing.
Fork & Ale Douglassville
Fork & Ale is bringing back its popular “heat and eat” Thanksgiving dinner. Dinners include turkey, creamy baked green beans and wild mushrooms, bread stuffing, orange infused carrots with chestnuts, cranberry sauce, dinner roll, gravy, and local apple cobbler with butterscotch for $38 per dinner. Orders must be placed by November 23 at 3 p.m. Pickup is between 3 and 8 p.m. on November 26.
Gourmand Cafe Wyomissing
Gourmand Cafe is offering pre-made Thanksgiving dinner for four. The cost is $189.99 which includes a tray of turkey breast, honey baked ham, or herb-crusted brisket with five sides, salad, cranberry sauce, and assorted breads and rolls. Pickup on Wednesday, November 26. (Local delivery is also available).
Hillbilly BBQ Douglassville
The roadside BBQ stand and caterer is smoking turkey and ham for Thanksgiving. Hillbilly BBQ is offering whole turkeys for $4.99 per pound, turkey breast for $12.99 per pound, and a whole ham for $68. Sides of mashed potatoes, green beans, and yams are also available. Preorders must be placed by November 24 for pickup on November 27 between 9 a.m. and 12 noon.
Messy Pig BBQ Womelsdorf
The Messy Pig will have their Womelsdorf store open on Wednesday, November 26 with limited menu and to pick up Thanksgiving preorders. The $250 family feast includes four pounds of smoked meat (turkey, pulled pork, and meatloaf among the choices) and ⅓ trays of sides like mashed potatoes and roasted Brussels sprouts.
Russo Food Market Wyomissing
Russo Market is offering Thanksgiving Dinners for Six for $319.99. Meals include three pounds of turkey breast; two pounds of herb stuffing; small mac and cheese or baked pasta; two pounds of green beans almondine or brussels sprouts; two pounds of mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes; small garden or Caesar salad; pint of orange cranberry chutney; a loaf of cranberry walnut bread; six pumpkin cannoli.
Vincenzo’s Ristorante Douglassville
Vincenzo’s is offering a family style dinner that can be pre-ordered through November 23 for pickup on November 26. Meals include four pounds of turkey breast with stuffing, green beans, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce for $90.
Weaver’s Orchard Morgantown
Weaver’s Orchard is offering a Thanksgiving meal kit that serves two to four people. Meals include turkey breast, filling or mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, sides, Weaver’s own applesauce and apple cider, and dessert for $94.99. Order by November 18 for pickup November 26.
Candy’s Homemade Ice Cream Shoemakersville
More than an ice cream shop, Candy’s is offering preorder Thanksgiving dinners. Each meal includes turkey, filling or mashed potatoes, green beans, dinner roll, and drink for $15. Preorder by Wednesday, November 26 for dine-in or takeout.
Kempton Kitchen Kempton
The Kempton Kitchen is offering family-size ham dinners for Thanksgiving. Each meal includes two pounds of ham plus filling, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, green beans, rolls and butter, and dessert. The cost is $40. Pre-orders should be placed by November 17 for pickup on Wednesday, November 26.
Route 61 Diner Muhlenberg Township
Route 61 Diner is offering pre-made dinners for $17.99 each on Thanksgiving. Order ahead for your choice of roast turkey, baked ham, or roast pork, each served with a vegetable, small salad, and a slice of apple or pumpkin pie.

Airport Diner Kutztown
Open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Airport Diner in Kutztown has seven ala carte specials for Easter. Dinner specials include NY strip steak, grilled ham, or tilapia.
American Diner West Reading
The American Diner is running Easter specials all weekend. Honey glazed ham, turkey, seafood medley and prime rib are among the menu additions that will be available Friday through Monday (including Easter Sunday).
Andy Pepper’s Oley
Andy Pepper’s will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Easter Sunday, serving their regular breakfast and lunch menu.
Annamarie’s on Main Birdsboro
Annamarie’s is hosting an Easter brunch buffet that includes French toast, pancakes, strip steak, ham, and more. In all, they will offer eigh mains, 14 sides and a dessert station. The cost is $44.99 for adults and $18.99 for kids 12 and under.
Anthony’s Trattoria Pennside
Anthony’s Trattoria will open for lunch and dinner on Easter. The restaurant will have leg of lamb and ham plus the regular menu. Anthony’s is open from 12 noon to 10 p.m.
Austin’s Restaurant & Bar West Lawn
Austin’s will be open from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Easter Sunday. In addition to the regular menu, they will have an Easter baked ham dinner special: $17.50 for ham, garlic whipped potatoes, and seasoned green beans. Preorder takeout meals are also available.
B2 Bistro & Bar West Reading
Open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Easter Sunday, B2 Bistro & Bar will serve their ala carte brunch menu until 2:30 p.m. and their dinner menu starting at 3 p.m.
Bally Family Diner Bally
The Bally Family Diner is offering an all-you-can-eat Easter dinner: $21.99 for roast pork, turkey, ham, sweet potatoes, filling, corn, and soup and salad bar.
Blackjax American Pub & GRill Birdsboro
Blackjax will host a buffet on Easter Sunday from 12 noon until 8 p.m. For $25.95 per adult and $13.95 for children (kids under 6 are free), guests can enjoy honey glazed ham, roasted turkey, dill crusted salmon, and more.
Bogey’s Pub Fleetwood
Bogey’s Pub at Golden Oaks Golf Club will be open for brunch and dinner on Easter Sunday. Brunch will also include a kids menu, while dinner will feature surf and turf and more.
Christine’s Creekside Inn Birdsboro
Christine’s will have their full menu available but limited hours on Easter. The restaurant will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. They will also offer a ham special.
Coastal Grille Wyomissing
Just like sister restaurant, Austin’s, Coastal Grille will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Easter Sunday with the full menu available plus a ham dinner special.
Comb Coffee Co Topton
Comb Coffee Co will have their coffee stand open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Easter for you to get your caffeine fix for the holiday.
Cottage Bakery & Cafe Kutztown
Breakfast and lunch will be available at the Cottage Bakery & Cafe in Kutztown. The restaurant will be open from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Easter.
Crossroads Family Restaurant Leesport
Another diner that will be open on Easter Sunday, Crossroads Family Restaurant will be featuring several specials including roast leg of lamb, duck l’orange, lobster tail, and of course, baked ham.
Doc & Bubba’s Mohnton
Easter brunch is served at Doc & Bubba’s. The restaurant will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a limited menu, including carving station, and live music by Dave Cullen from 1 to 3 p.m.
Exeter Family Restaurant Exeter
The Exeter Family Restaurant will be open Easter day with their regular menu and specials including brown sugar honey baked hma, spicy bourbon chicken, and burnt ends mac and cheese. Reservations are available for groups of eight or more.
Fork & Ale Douglassville
Fork & Ale will be open for Easter brunch. As with their regular Sunday brunch, the menu includes “with eggs” dishes like the breakfast burger or shrimp and grits, and mains like a Monte Cristo or risotto. Brunch is served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Grind Birdsboro
Grind will host a buffet brunch from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Easter Sunday. Options include made-to-order omelettes, ham carving station, southern fried chicken, shrimp Alfredo and more. Adult meals are $39, kids 7-12 are $18, and ages 2-6 are $8.
Fresh West Reading
West Reading brunch spot Fresh will be open regular hours on Easter Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., serving their breakfast and lunch favorites.
Heidelberg Family Restaurant Robesonia
The Heidelberg will be serving a family style Easter dinner from 10:45 a.m. to 8 p.m. It will feature all-you-can-eat ham, turkey, corn, filling and peas plus dessert and beverage for $21.99 ($10.99 for kids).
Inn on Main Oley
The Inn on Main is serving both brunch and dinner on Easter Sunday. Brunch is served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with dinner available all day until 6 p.m.
Judy’s on Cherry Reading
Judy’s on Cherry will be open for brunch or dinner, offering an ala carte menu on Easter Sunday at their downtown Reading restaurant.
Kempton Hotel Kempton

The Vintner’s Table will be offering a pre fixe lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Easter Sunday. The four-course meal includes three entree options: lamb ragu pappardelle, herb and citrus stuffed porchetta, and chive butter salmon. A kids menu is also available.
Willoughby’s on Park Wyomissing
Willoughby’s will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Easter. The restaurant will be offering a two-course prix fixe menu with an ala carte cold bar and a “young adults” (11 and under) menu. Adults are $59, young adults are $28.
Whoo’s Cooking at The Boxcar Grill Robesonia
Whoo’s Cooking has two choices for Easter dinner: baked ham ($15) or roast beef ($16), both are served with the choice of two vegetables and sides. Dine-in is available on Easter Sunday but you can also pre-order takeout meals (order by Thursday the 17ty) for pickup on Saturday or Sunday.
Wyomissing Restaurant & Bakery Wyomissing
The daily brunch buffet at the Wyomissing Restaurant & Bakery gets an upgrade for Easter. From 10 a.m. to 4 pm., guests will enjoy New York strip steak, salmon, pineapple ham, and pot roast, along with breakfast favorites for $26.99 for adults and $14.99 for kids ages 4-10.
