Reading and Berks County’s dining scene continues to grow and we are looking forward to trying all of the new restaurants set to open in the coming weeks and months. Here are the restaurants we know are coming soon to Berks County:

A Light in the Attic
West Reading
Projected Opening: Late 2023

The owners of Barley Mow in West Reading are creating a second space in the top floor of the restaurant’s building. A Light in the Attic will is touted as a “modern speakeasy” and “a New American restaurant focused on serving thoughtfully curated small plates, craft cocktails, beer, and wine.” According to the restaurant’s Facebook page, the opening is targeted before the end of the year.

Antonio’s Trattoria
Boyertown
Projected Opening: Summer 2023

The former owners of nearby Giovanni’s Pizzeria are bringing a new concept to the Boyertown area when they open Antonio’s Trattoria at the 1636 W. Philadelphia Avenue. The location was most recently Woods Pub & Grill. No opening date has been announced, but the restaurant has passed its inspection and hosted open interviews in early August so opening appears close.

Farrier’s Tavern
Robesonia
Projected Opening: Unknown

Robesonia will get a new corner bar with the opening Farrier’s Tavern. The new spot takes over the former Falco’s Tavern at 29 West Penn Avenue. Falco’s was sold earlier this year and closed June 23. No opening date or details about the new Farrier’s Tavern have been announced.

Inn on Main
Oley
Projected Opening: Unknown

A new restaurant is coming to Main Street in Oley. The Inn on Main will take over the former Oley Valley Inn. Last year, a farm-to-table restaurant, the Riedenau Haus, was announced for the space, but that development fell through late last year. No opening date has been announced for the Inn on Main, though the business is currently hiring.

Mod Pizza
Wyomissing
Projected Opening: Unknown

Mod Pizza is opening a second Berks County location at 2715 North Meridian Boulevard in Wyomissing. It will share a building with Honeygrow, which opened earlier this year. Mod Pizza’s first Berks County location opened in Muhlenberg Township in 2020.

Play It Back Sports Bar & Grill
Cumru Township
Projected Opening: Winter/Spring 2023

Play It Back Sports Bar & Grill is taking over the former California Bar & Grill along Route 724 near Kenhorst. The latest update from the restaurant came in February with owners noting that “Renovations are ongoing. The extent is much more than was anticipated. This was an old building and balancing the preservation of the main structure and modernizing it to contrast the renovations has been a challenge for the contractors.”

Popeye’s
Sinking Spring
Projected Opening: Late 2023

South Heidelberg Township has approved plans for a Popeyes location along Route 422 near the Green Valley Road Intersection. Though construction has yet to begin (as of August 2023), the restaurant could still be open by the end of the year.

Primo Hoagies
Wyomissing Projected Opening: Unknown

Primo Hoagies will open its first Berks County location at the Block at Wyomissing Square. Located on the first floor of the 100 Park apartment building, it will join Cafe Folino and the Vintner’s Table as the three eateries in the location. The New Jersey-based chain has franchises throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania. The nearest Primo Hoagies locations to Berks County currently are in Lancaster, Chester and Lehigh Counties.

Simran Indian Cuisine
Kutztown
Projected Opening: Unknown

Kutztown is set to get its first Indian restaurant with the expected arrival of Simran Indian Cuisine. The restaurant was first announced in an article in the Allentown Morning Call in February. At the time, there was no business name given, but a business entity called Simran Indian Cuisine LLC was filed on May 3 for the restaurant’s address. The new restaurant will take over the former Spuds at 163 W. Main Street. There have been no updates since May.

Tosco Pizza
West Lawn
Projected Opening: Unknown

Tosco is set to open a second Berks County location for the family of Italian restaurants. A sign recently was posted outside the former Tavern on Penn in West Lawn. The restaurant has two other locations along the Route 422 corridor – one between Robesonia and Wernersville and the other in Myerstown. No opening information is available at this time.

Vintner’s Table
Wyomissing
Projected Opening: Spring 2023

Folino Estate announced in April that it will be opening Vintner’s Table, a wine and tapas bar in Wyomissing. This will be the second location for the concept – the first has been serving Phoenixville since 2019. The new Wyomissing location will occupy space at 100 Park at Wyomissing Square, the same complex that formerly housed ViVA and later Brickstone’s. The entire first floor of the building is being reimagined with construction ongoing and expected well into 2023.

The West Reading Motor Club will open in fall 2019 in the former A to Z Vacuum in West Reading

West Reading Motor Club
West Reading
Projected Opening: Unknown

After a five-year wait, the West Reading Motor Club is set to open soon, according to the restaurant’s official Facebook page. The West Reading Motor Club will be a fine-dining establishment on the first floor beneath the Nitro Bar (which opened in 2019). Posts indicate the restaurant will open soon, but no opening date has been announced.

Wing Stop
Muhlenberg Township & Cumru Township
Projected Opening: Fall 2023

Two Berks County locations are planned for fast food chain Wing Stop. One will be on the Fifth Street Highway in Muhlenberg Township, the other in the Shillington Shopping Center in Cumru Township. The chain has a signifcant presence in Philadelphia and Allentown, but these will be the first Berks-area locations for the chian.
